Introduction: Commitment to Sustainability (WASMP)

The WASMP (Wines of Alentejo Sustainability Management Program) is a pioneering strategic initiative by the CVRA (Alentejo Regional Wine Commission), designed to promote best agricultural and oenological practices within the region. This certification framework evaluates the performance of economic agents across 18 fundamental chapters, ranging from efficient water and energy management to biodiversity protection and the social well-being of employees. Obtaining this seal signifies that the organization operates with a reduced environmental footprint and high ethical standards, ensuring the long-term resilience of the Alentejo ecosystem.

We are proud to announce that our organization has achieved this official recognition, becoming the 27th economic agent to obtain the WASMP certification. This figure underscores the exclusivity and rigor of the process, placing us at the forefront of a movement that establishes Alentejo as a global benchmark for sustainable wine production. By joining this select group, we reaffirm our commitment to producing with quality, respecting natural resources, and contributing positively to our community.

It is essential to emphasize that this certification is conducted by independent, external entities. This factor is crucial, as it provides superior credibility to the process, assuring the market and consumers that our practices are rigorously verified and validated by impartial auditors, thereby ensuring total operational transparency.

The Impact of Sustainability: From Resources to Community

Our actions within the WASMP framework are based on an integrated vision of four fundamental pillars, where every technical action has a human and social reflection. Regarding the Social Sustainability pillar, we believe that change begins internally; therefore, we invest continuously in employee training, raising awareness for sustainable practices in daily work activities. This

sensitization ensures that sustainability is not merely a management guideline, but a culture embraced by everyone in their daily routines.

This awareness extends beyond our premises through strong community responsibility. We consider it vital to establish partnerships with geographically proximal companies, prioritizing the local business fabric. This proximity allows us to reduce the carbon footprint associated with transportation while simultaneously generating a positive economic and social impact on the community in which we operate, strengthening Alentejo’s regional economy.

In the Economic Viability pillar, we reinforce that being sustainable is, above all, a smart business decision. A 20% reduction in water consumption and energy self-sufficiency through our “Solar Neighborhood” are concrete evidence that environmental efficiency generates direct economic advantages. By reducing operational costs and waste, we ensure the financial robustness necessary to continue investing in innovation, proving that environmental protection is a driver of long-term profitability and competitiveness.

Finally, it is fundamental to understand that WASMP certification is a program of continuous improvement. Being the 27th certified agent is a starting point, not a final destination. Our commitment is to improve every day, refining processes and adopting new technologies. This spirit of constant evolution ensures that our organization remains at the vanguard of sustainable viticulture, honoring the seal of trust bestowed upon us by the CVRA.
